The Foreign Language Program Office (FLPO) of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and the National Cryptologic School (NCS), are pleased to announce the Language Education and Resources Network (LEARN) Romance Languages workshop. The workshop will be held on Monday, March 25th and Tuesday, March 26th 2019, at the Loyola University Maryland Columbia Graduate Center in Columbia, Maryland.
The LEARN workshops provide foreign language professionals from U.S. Government (USG)-affiliated schools and institutions a venue to interact with their colleagues where they can:
- Share their knowledge, experience, unique perspective, and educational best practices with peers;
- Discuss and explore issues related to the science and technology of foreign language education;
- Develop networks of teachers to create communities of practices;
- Reduce duplication of effort in areas such as curriculum design, course delivery, and assessments.
This LEARN Workshop is open to foreign language professionals including instructors and course developers from any USG-affiliated institution. Presentations related specifically to Romance languages are encouraged.
The main themes are: Globalization of Romance languages and their impact beyond countries of origin, Technology and media as integral part of language learning, and Teaching Romance languages for specialized purposes.
Funding for any associated travel expenses will be the responsibility of the attendees' organization.
